How many nutrients can you put on a 20cm x 15cm lunch box?

I confess that last year I’ve been guilty of disorganization when eating at work. Sometimes I have been lazy to think about what to cook and eat, procrastinating to the very last minute with some unappealing salad, but most of the times the mean reason for doing that was how to carry my meals to the office, especially because I go by bike and I don’t want to leak any liquids inside my backpack. Everything is changed now since I have the great products by Black & Blum : the stainless steel lunch box, the food flask, and the thermo pot . Today I am going to talk about the stainless steel lunch box which offers a thousand and more ways of use! I love the fact that it’s zero waste, that does not absorb any odor, that you can directly bake putting in the oven (not for the microwave!) and that basically, it can last forever. In the past, I’ve tried a couple of different bento box, but none of them was

big or deep or large enough to contain all my lunch, and furthermore they weren’t “leak proof” which for me is an important feature to be sure that on my way to the office I’m not to going to drop any liquid. Thanks to this lunch box I’ve found new inspiration and motivation for my meal because it makes my life much more easier and practical. The key to being covered for all your lunch meals at work is cooking on Sunday. You don’t need to spend hours and hours in the kitchen, but truly a couple of hours can help you to save money and, more important, to ensure a proper meal loaded with nutrients. What I do is making some vegan burgers on advance (like the recipe below) that I can combine with some salad and homemade ketchup or hummus (you will find the recipes here and here) and a velvety soup that you can easily warm up a couple of minutes before going to work and transfer it on the thermo pot or food flask to keep them warm. One smart hack for me is also cooking some rice on my electric rice cooker while I am having my shower and getting ready for the office. Today we make some gorgeous white beans burgers, with this recipe you can make up to 6 burgers of medium size that can be your lunch for 2 days. Because this lunch box has a slider divider (removable) to separate the food, I’ve also added my homemade hummus to dip my burgers. Don’t forget your greens: salad, fresh tomatoes, and micro-greens.

 

 

 

 

 

Is the Stainless Steel Box leak proof?
Yes, the Stainless Steel Box is leak proof. To ensure the box is locked & sealed properly, check that the edges of the base and silicone seal on the lid are clean and dry. Firmly push the lid down on all sides and then press the valve down. Secure the box with the silicone strap.

White beans burgers

  • Servings: 6 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1/2 red paprika (diced)
  • 1 can white beans (soaked)
  • 50gr walnuts
  • 30gr vegan parmesan
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 small onion
  • fresh parsley
  • 1 tbs olive oil

Directions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°
  2. on a pan (medium heat) brown for about 5 minutes onion and garlic
  3. blend together the beans, the parmesan (recipe here), the mustard seeds, 1 tsp salt, pepper, and parsley. Use the pulse mode of your blender to get the right consistency.
  4. add the diced paprika and the sautéed onion and garlic
  5. squeeze into a ball shape with a plastic wrap and put in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  6. bake each side for 10 minutes
  7. serve with salad, black olives, fresh tomatoes, micro-greens, and some hummus.

A good way to perfectly cook the burgers is to press them a bit into patties so that the heating is well distributed over the dough. After baked and cooled you can shape them back into balls.
